Since I'm an author, not that succesful one, I receive messages that tell me all kinds of things. I learned to spot these clear scams, but one managed to look just real enough and after looking at their instagram, I was about to be sold. Luckily, since I don't understand how business work I asked my editor about how I should proceed and he just said it was likely a scam. This made me double check the instagram page the scammer told was theirs, once I looked their page more closely, I noticed that the art that they posted was way too inconsistant and it was then that I finaly realized it was a scam. Since I made contact with them on discord, I deleted that message board, or whatever it was called, and thought that was it.
Of course, I have seen two different comments and one review that ask me in similar way to contact them if I want to hire an artist for my novel. Low and behold, their names are just different kinds of ways to write the same username or with some aditions.
I'm glad that I asked my editor first and I thanked him profusely that he made me double check.
